What modes of transport are included in the Intermodal – Multi Carrier service?
Maersk’s Intermodal – Multi Carrier service delivers inland transportation of containerised cargo (shipped with any ocean carrier) using one or more the following modes of transport:
- Road direct – For flexible and fast door-to-door delivery.
- Rail and rail combined – Efficient inland transport over medium to long distances, to inland rail hubs or combined with road for door-to-door service.
- Barge and barge combined – Cost effective transportation, especially when shipping multiple containers. Used in regions with navigable rivers or canals, particularly for bulk transports or heavy loads. Can be combined with road for door-to-door service.
Depending on requirements, our Intermodal – Multi Carrier service combines the most suitable modes of transportation in a single journey, without handling the cargo itself during transit.
